Mrs. Artie T. Martin, 89, of Rt. 5, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Graydon Cox of Rt. 1, Wednesday morning. Mrs. Martin was a native of Montgomery County born near Darlington Aug. 27, 1875. Her parents were Henry and Maria Whiteley Thornburg. On Dec. 29, 1897, she was married to Walter Allen Martin near Garfield. Mr. Martin died on May 3, 1960. A resident of the county her entire life, Mrs. Martin was a member of the Gravelly Run Friends meeting. She was a 50-year member of the Franklin Township Home Demonstration Club and a member of the Gravelly Run and Garfield Ladies Aid groups. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Cox, Mrs. Buell E. Warren of Rt. 1 and Mrs. Fred Stotelymer of Winchester; nine grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters and a daughter, Katherine, who died at the age of 1½ years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bright Funeral Home in Darlington. Rev. Donald Stockford of the Darlington Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Darlington Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday. – jlr
